Torino FC is pleased to announce that from July 1st, 2026, the management of the First Team will be entrusted to coach Ignazio Abate. The coach has signed a contract until June 30th, 2028. Ignazio Abate was born on November 12th, 1986, in Sant'Agata de' Goti (Benevento province). Former player, defender, he grew up in the youth sector of Milan, debuting in the profession with the rossonera jersey on December 3rd, 2003, just seventeen years old, in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals against Sampdoria. Throughout his career, he has accumulated important experiences with the jerseys of Napoli, Piacenza, Modena, and Empoli, and already knows the granata environment, having played for Torino in the 2008-2009 season. He then established himself definitively with Milan, with whom he played 306 official matches and scored 3 goals, winning one Scudetto and two Italian Supercups. He also boasts 22 appearances and one goal with the Italian National Team, with which he reached second place at the 2012 European Championship and bronze at the 2013 Confederations Cup. After concluding his career as a player, in 2021 he embarked on the path of coach starting from the youth sector of Milan. He then took on the role of coach of the Milan Primavera, with whom he achieved outstanding results, leading the team to the semifinals of the UEFA Youth League in the 2022-23 season and the final in the following season. In the 2024-2025 season, he made his debut as a First Team coach on the bench of Ternana. In the last championship, Abate, in his first experience in Serie B, was the protagonist, as coach of Juve Stabia, of an excellent season, concluded with the semifinals of the playoffs for promotion lost against Monza, which then won the return to Serie A.
