Amidst Serie A action, including matches against Torino FC, reports confirm Paulo Dybala's agreement in principle to join Boca Juniors after his Roma contract ends.

Serie A continues to feature its stars, among them Paulo Dybala, who was seen in action during key matches such as the one against Torino FC at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino on January 18, 2026. However, the future of the AS Roma forward now appears set: according to reports from Argentine sources, Dybala has reached an 'agreement in principle' to join Boca Juniors at the end of the 2025-26 season, concluding his four years in the Italian capital.

Reports from Argentina, particularly from ESPN, are confident about Dybala's move to Boca Juniors. Journalist Leo Paradizo stated that Dybala will wear the Boca shirt from next semester, after the 2026 World Cup, marking his return to Argentine football.

The 32-year-old Dybala, whose fitness has allowed him only 18 Serie A appearances and 12 starts this season, is currently due to be out of contract with Roma on June 30, 2026. Reports in both Italy and Argentina claim that 'La Joya' is 'tempted' to return to his homeland to play for Boca Juniors, a desire that now seems to be materializing.

Despite Gian Piero Gasperini's interest, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, in keeping Dybala at AS Roma, any new deal at the Stadio Olimpico would involve a significant pay cut from his current €8m-per-season contract. This condition makes Boca's offer even more appealing.

Dybala himself discussed his future in an interview with Argentine reporter Joaquin Alvarez, stating: "It would be good, you never know. Today, I play for Roma, I have to defend this shirt, but you never know." His close personal friendship with current Boca Juniors and former Roma midfielder, Leandro Paredes, and their families, plays a significant role in this decision.

Dybala's departure would represent a significant change for Serie A and for Roma, while Boca Juniors prepares to welcome a world-renowned talent, further strengthening the Argentine league after the 2026 World Cup.
